LAGOS—Lagos State chapter of the Labour Party, LP, has distanced itself from the national convention scheduled to hold on October 11, 2014 in Ondo State.
In a statement by its publicity secretary, Mr Tony Okorocha, LP described the planned convention as a huge joke.
According to the party, after the exhaustive consultation with the state Working Committee members and other stakeholders of the party, it was unanimously agreed that the chapter should distance itself from the Party’s National Convention slated to hold in Akure, tomorrow.
The party said: “A list of party delegates submitted and admitted by the outgoing National Exco by an unknown person does not in any way represent the State Executive Council member’s or other members of the party who are constitutionally mandated to attend and vote at conventions.
“We hereby state unequivocally that we consider the convention a huge joke, immoral and wholesome anti-party, the conduct of an event of such magnitude.
” We are not a party to the national convention neither are we going to respect or recognize the outcome of the convention.”
