Kaduna—Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero of Kaduna State has submitted his letter of intention to run for the 2015 governorship election in the state on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Yero made this known while addressing the state PDP executive members yesterday at the party’s secretariat, adding that his decision was based on calls from various political and other interest groups across the state urging him to contest the poll.

The PDP stakeholders from the 23 local government areas in the state had earlier adopted him as their sole candidate for election, which he is expected to run with his deputy, Nuhu Bajoga.

Reacting to the governor’s declaration of intent, Chairman of the state chapter of the PDP, Chief Abubakar Haruna said the process of the transition had commenced.

Haruna then urged other aspirants seeking elective positions on the platform of the PDP to also follow suit saying the party would guarantee level playing field for all aspirants.

The party also announced that the sale of nomination forms would commence tomorrow, October 10, following the release of the amended party guidelines on October 1.

Yero was accompanied to the party secretariat by a large crowd of supporters including stakeholders of the party from all the local governments in the state.
