Forum endorses Ekweremadu’s return to senate

By Francis Igata

ENUGU—An amalgamation of academic professionals, political and business bodies, operating on the platform of Save Awgu Forum Enugu, SAFE, has endorsed the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu for re-election in Enugu-West senatorial zone of Enugu State.

Thousands of SAFE members besieged the country home of Senator Ekweremadu at Mpu in Aninri Local Government Area, where they assured total support and commitment towards his re-election. “Those who are jostling for the position should tarry a while since a champion is already occupying the position,” the group said.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the political leader of Awgu people and business mogul, Mr. Baywood Ibe, said that the endorsement, Awgu people had spoken with finality.

“Save Awgu Forum is working for the integration and development of Awgu, we are here to endorse our Ike Ekweremadu and we will make sure he goes back. We all belong to greater Awgu, Aninri was carved out of old Awgu; a father cannot forsake his son just like a mother cannot forsake her daughter.

“We have made mistakes in the past but with this new synergy, we will take Enugu by the storm; we cannot fight ourselves, that era is gone.”
