LAGOS—In a rare display of bi-partisan support and endorsement of the security initiatives and inclusive governance style of Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State, the Interim Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Lagos, Mr. Joe Igbokwe, has said the governor was doing very well.
Igbokwe spoke during the security fund-raising event by the Anambra State government at the Muson Centre, Lagos.
He singled out security which, according to him, is much better that what was happening across some parts of the country and urged him to keep up the great job.
Igbokwe, who hails from Nnewi told Governor Obiano, “I came here today because I identify with good ideas. You have shown great vision. I have heard testimonies and have also seen what you are doing. Ordinarily, we would still challenge your mandate up to ECOWAS Court but I have to advise my people that it is no longer necessary and I can attest that you are doing well and our people support you. You are doing better than most governors across the country and if you continue that way, Anambra would better than Lagos. Well done sir.”
Reacting to Igbokwe’s comments, a community development expert and Human Rights activist, Mr. Nobert Okoye, said “Joe Igbokwe’s candour and objective assessment of Obiano’s administration is a welcome development in an era of politics of rancour and winner-takes-all. It shows that Obiano’s style of inclusive governance is being embraced across all divides, and it is good for the polity.”
Igbokwe’s eulogy of Obiano’s giant strides in Anambra State was amongst that of many distinguished guests who stayed late into the night to witness the massive support and display of unity of purpose by Ndi Anambra in Lagos, with other friends and well-wishers who thronged the venue of the fundraising to support the initiative.
