AAUA resumes lectures, tasks students on hard work

By OLATIDE FAITH

The Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State has restated its determination to commence lectures for its 2013/2014 second semester this week. Mr Chukwuma Okechukwu, a senior lecturer in the Department of Mass Communication who spoke with Vanguard Learning disclosed this, urging students to be hard working and focus.

According to him, the school was way behind schedule and the only way to meet up was to resume early. He reacted to students’ complaints that the last semester was too long and that the two week break they were given was insufficient for them by saying, “within those two weeks, I have marked my scripts, uploaded the results, gone for course allocation and other things, only an unserious student will give that excuse”.

Refuting the claim by some students that the reason behind the quick resumption was because of the upcoming convocation ceremony, Mr chukwuma said, “convocation can hold even without school’s resumption, it is no way connected. The school simply wants to meet up with schedule and I think that students should be excited about this”.

He however advised students who were still at home to get to school quickly as lectures will commence as planned. In his words, “I have told them, my first lecture is on Thursday and I don’t care how many students are there, it is going to hold.”
