80 Nigerians to benefit from NITDA overseas postgraduate studies

Abuja—Mr Peter Jack, the Director-General of National Information Technology Development Agency, NITDA, says the agency will send 80 Nigerian students to different parts of the world for Post Graduate Studies.

Jack made this known at NITDA’s head office in Abuja while addressing students offered scholarship to study abroad.
He said the 80 students were selected for advanced studies in Information Communication Technology-related courses based on merit.

He noted that of the 80 students, 74 were going for their masters degree while six students were for Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).
He advised the beneficiaries to be worthy ambassadors of the country and make maximal use of available opportunities.

“There are many opportunities where you are going; do not focus only on the academic opportunities but also on entrepreneurial opportunities and build healthy relationships.
“You are now part of NITDA’s family; keep your eyes and ears open to seize the opportunities that abound all over the world,” he said.

Earlier, the Senior Corporate Affairs Officer, Mrs Uwa Suleiman, reminded the students that they were selected strictly on merit and should not relent in their efforts to excel.
“This scholarship is strictly on merit, irrespective of your background; it cuts across all the geopolitical zones in the country.

“It does not matter where you come from; if you obtained a first class or second class (upper) in your first degree, you are eligible to take the internal exams.
“So, do not relent in your efforts to succeed,” she stressed.

Some of the directors, who spoke at the event, urged the students to make the most of the opportunity.”
The Director of Human Resources of NITDA, Mr Jonathan Olanipekun, implored the students to sustain the impeccable record set by previous recipients.
