72-yr-old man docked over N15m fraud

A 72-year-old man, Raheem Babatunde, has been charged before an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court in Lagos, for fraudulently converting and allegedly selling a land valued at N15 million.

Babatunde was charged alongside Miriam Onilara, 50, and Omolasho Olukayode, 42, by the police, on a five-count charge of forgery and fraudulent conversion of property.

According to charge, the accused persons also forged the document of the said land and stole N2.5 million from one Alhaji Usman Mohammed Tanko.

They pleaded not guilty.

Police prosecutor, Inspec-tor Eranus Nnamonu, informed the court that the offence was punishable under section 363 (b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2011.

The magistrate, Magis-trate Abimbola Komolafe granted the accused bail in the sum of N500,000, with two sureties, who must be their blood relations, and adjourned the matter to November 6.
