Ogun State Governor Senator Ibikunle Amosun has charged pilgrims from the state to be upright as they conclude the 2014 hajj rites.

Governor Amosun gave the charge while addressing pilgrims yesterday through a telephone call on Mount Arafat, Saudi Arabia.

He stated that with the experience gathered while on the Hajj exercise, they must show good character in their day to day dealings in their community and the society at large.

“As you are all now crowned as Alhaji and Alhajas from today, and a day that falls on a Jumat prayer, you all must be reminded that you must now reflect positively in the community you reside and the society in general”.

The Governor admonished all the pilgrims to continuously support this administration with prayers, adding that no stone would be left unturned in its drive towards developing all parts of the state.

In his response, Ogun State Amir-ul-Hajj 2014, Imam Abdul-Qudri Junaid, described the occasion as one that could never be forgotten by all pilgrims, while congratulating pilgrims for the grace by almighty Allah to witness the special climbing of mount Arafat yeserday which also made the occasion unique, urging all Muslim faithful both home and abroad to celebrate the Sallah period in moderation and fulfillment.

In the same vein, Chairman of the State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Dr. Isiaq Yusuf, stressed that the climbing of Mount Arafat remains an important aspect of the hajj rites, the fear of Allah and compliance with the tenets of the religion of Islam remains the only way to the path of favour at all times.
