BENIN— The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Edo State, yesterday, accused the Chief Dan Orbih-led Peoples Democra-tic Party, PDP, in the state of lacking the moral justification to question Governor Adams Oshiomhole’s expenses.

The party said the memo which contained the alleged travel expenses of the governor as read by Orbih was an indication that the expenditure was authorised from the Appropriation Law as passed by the Edo State House of Assembly.

Recalling that the World Bank had hailed Oshiomhole’s administration as regards its transparency in award of contracts and other government expenditure, the state chairman of APC, Mr. Anslem Ojezua, said Orbih should credit Oshiomhole for being transparent “by putting up a memo which he claimed he saw unlike his PDP that did not follow due process when it comes to expenditure.”

According to Ojezua, “Orbih is making a mountain out of a mole hill because from the documents he exhibited, you could see that the document was a memo emanating in accordance with the public service rules, indicating compliance with the law as relates to public expenditure.

“It is also evident that the expenditure itself was authorised from the appropriation law from Edo State House of Assembly.

“At all times, it is expected that governance carry cost attached to it. That is the reason provisions are made for various items in the budget.”
