Ado Ekiti—Ekiti State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has again accused the outgoing Kayode Fayemi-led administration of illegally disposing state assetswithin and outside the state, vowing to review all alleged illegal sales and transactions when it assumes office next month.
PDP in a statement weekend by its State Publicity Secretary, Pastor Kola Oluwawole, claimed the outgoing government had extended its illegal action to Lagos and Abuja disposing off assets including vehicles to All Progressives Congress, APC, members at ridiculous prices .
But the outgoing government reacting through the Commissioner for Information, Mr. Tayo Ekundayo, dismissed PDP accusation as untrue, calling on PDP to come with concrete fact to substantiate its allegation.
According to him, “it is not true, they should show proof. I am not aware of such and if they are sure of their fact, they should wait till October 16 when they will take over and revoke such property. But I don’t think a sensible government could say because it is leaving office and start selling properties of the state. Such allegation is senseless and unsubstantiated and should not be taken seriously.”
However, the PDP listed the affected property to include pieces of land and houses at Irewolede Estate Phases I and II, Ado-Ekiti, as well as pieces of land and houses at Obasanjo Housing Estate, Ikere Road, Ado-Ekiti, while vehicles and state property in Abuja and Lagos.
PDP statement alleged “Now, a plot of land at Irewolede Phase II and Obasanjo Estate is being sold to Fayemi’s cronies at a very ridiculous price of N200,000, while the houses at Irewolede Phase I are being allocated to political appointees and Fayemi’s cronies at a give away price of N6 million instead of the N12 million placed on the property by official valuer. By selling the lands, Fayemi is denying Ekiti people the opportunity of getting the FMBN facility with which the in-coming PDP government will be used to build houses at the Estates and sold to the people at affordable prices.
”Even Fayemi’s aides who bought property at Irewolede Phase I in 2012 are now being asked to pay N6 million as against N12 million that the building was allocated to them.
“The same black market sale is being carried out on government lands at the Obasanjo Housing Estate along Ikere-Ekiti Road built during Dr Ayo Fayose’s first term as governor of Ekiti State in 2005.”
”We are compelled to raise this alarm because the outgoing government has not hidden its vengeance mission since losing the governorship election to our candidate,Dr Ayodele Fayose, by choosing to pursue policies and actions that would be detrimental not only to the smooth take-off of the incoming PDP government, but to the development of the state as a whole.”
“It is pertinent to remind all the sons and daughters of Ekiti State that the government of the APC, which has six weeks to the expiration of its tenure, is without any element of doubt displaying all these disdainful characters and embarking on a mission of revenge because of its outright rejection at the poll without taking into consideration the adverse effects it will have on the generality of the people of the state and its long term repercussions even to members of the party that produced the failed
government.”
