The new executive of the Festival Town Residents Association, has said that it was committed to tackling the environmental hazards that has bedevilled the estate over the years, noting that this would restore its lost glory.
Making this assurance at a press briefing, the President of the association, Mr. Shola Fakorede stated that FESTAC represents a mini Nigeria with virtually all the ethnic nationalities living therein, adding that: “Festac town was established as a residential estate designed to house the participants of the Second World Festival of Black Arts and Culture in 1977.
”It is our commitment to ensure that in line with the design of the estate, that we must live like brothers and sisters; one family that is what we intend to achieve.
“In order to restore the lost glory of Festac, we will continue from where the last executive stopped to ensure that our environment is clean and the drainages in proper working condition. We will also continue to communicate with the appropriate authorities to do what they are supposed to do. That was why we went to court against the land use charge forced on us by the Lagos State government.”
