LAGOS—The All Progressives Congress, APC, Lagos State chapter, has urged the new Commissioner of Police, Kayode Aderanti, to ensure justice is done in the alleged killing of APC chieftain during the last Saturday’s Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, rally on Lagos Island.
It was gathered that the police in Lagos have arrested one of the suspects, while the prime suspect that shot the fire and others were still at large.
The deceased, Alhaji Azeez Asake, of the APC was allegedly shot and killed by a notorious group on the Island, said to be loyal to a top Federal government official.
Publicity Secretary, APC, Lagos chapter, Mr. Joe Igbokwe, while reacting to the development , yesterday, said one of the perpetrators of the heinous act, simply called “Abija” had been arrested by the police and he is currently, in custody.
He said: “The new Police Commissioner in Lagos is getting it right to stop this impunity in Nigeria. The police belong to the institutions of democracy which must be strengthened for democracy to thrive.”
