West Brom coach Alan Irvine who is hopeful of playing Brown Ideye in today’s premier League clash against Burnley said that his 10 million pound man will deliver after he scored his first goal in the league cup against Hull last Wednesday.
The head coach enjoyed an excellent evening on Wednesday night as Ideye made the first repayment on his transfer fee and several other new signings impressed in the Capital One Cup win over Hull City.
A second victory in four days, delivered in the most dramatic of fashions, was only clouded by the fact Ideye injured his ankle in the act of turning home Steve Harper’s parry. Inside the first quarter of the match Ideye had both broken his duck and hobbled down the tunnel in frustration.
“Everybody is delighted for him. We all know strikers are judged on their goals and everybody is desperate for him to get them,” Irvine said.
“We think he can get them because he shows in training he is a good finisher and he was in a good position to score.
“It’s a shame he had to come off because he had started the game really well. “I don’t think the injury is too bad, he’s just rocked his ankle, but later in the week we will have an idea of the extent of that. “I don’t think it’s anything too serious but we will see.”Ideye was able to clarify the situation yesterday when he took to Twitter to echo his head coach’s confidence.
Brown tweeted: “Thanks everyone for the love, my injury is not that serious, hopefully I will be fine before the next game.”
