LONG queues emerged yesterday at Filling stations in the nation’s capital city, Abuja , with the scarcity of Petroleum Motor Spirit, PMS.

With the queues  getting longer in major parts of the Territory, both private vehicle owners  and commercial drivers struggled for hours to buy fuel, following the closure of some stations due to unavailability of products.

Along the Umaru Yar’Adua Way (Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport Road), vehicular movement was made impossible at the NNPC filling station at Sabon Lugbe; Conoil filling Station at Aso junction; Mobil at Lugbe, all along the Airport Road.

Vanguard observed that it was the same problem of very long queues at Conoil filling Station at Berger; Total Filling Station at Zone 2 and Oando also in Zone 2,  thereby making vehicle owners spend hours before getting to  Zone 4, Sheraton Hotel and Towers and the Central Area. Zone one, Area 10, Kubwa and Jabi also experienced heavy traffic due to the long queues for fuel

It will be recalled that Staff of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) had on Tuesday embarked on an industrial action leading to the shutting down of operations in their offices and depots. The problem was said to have been resolved last night.
