Akure—THE Social Democratic Party, SDP, was formally presented to the public in Ondo State yesterday.

The National Leader of the party, Chief Olu Falae said in Akure during the launching of the party that; “The party had come to wrest the nation from the throws of corruption and unemployment.

Falae said: ”SDP, same acronym with the platform on which the late Chief Moshood Abiola won the June 12 Presidential election, is different from other political parties in its manifestos and intentions for the people.

“Let corruption die, so that Nigeria may live. There is so much corruption in the land. Other political parties have shown that they are selfish, but the SDP is for everybody.”
He noted that,  “The rate of unemployment was becoming alarming so that the recent recruitment exercise of the Ondo State Government where only 2,000 teachers would be employed, had over 20,000 applicants.

Falae promised that the party would “create millions of jobs when voted into power in the coming elections and would deal with corruption which is denying Nigerians the benefit of good governance.

“SDP government will exploit bitumen and other mineral resources in the states. They said only Federal Government can exploit minerals but at the last National Conference, we have changed that.
“Other political parties don’t have manifesto, what they do is to distribute money and bags of rice. Will that change the situation of the people?” he asked.

Speaking at the ceremony the leader of Yoruba Socio Political group, Afenifere, Chief Reuben Fasaranti, said; “The party stands for consistency, honesty and accountability; I, therefore, urge the people to throw their weight behind the party to ensure its success.
“This is a new dawn, a new beginning and a new set of people. Let us work hard for a better Nigeria,” he said.

The party’s National Secretary, Sadiq Umaru Gombe, assured that the party would remain strong as members would ensure its acceptance across the country.
Gombe pointed out that  the party was set to restore the country to the glorious path as Nigerians were tired of deceit and lack of development.
