LAGOS—Members of Africa in Diaspora and Non Indigenes Cultural Association have described Governor Theodore Orji of Abia State as one of the most detribalized Nigerians.

This came on the heals of the recent recall of over 2,000 non-indigene workers from the South East region who were  hitherto relieved of their appointments with the state civil service.

The association also thanked the State House of Assembly for its support and aide to non- indigenes working in the state.
In a statement,  the National Chairman of the group, Comrade Peter C.J. Anigbogu, said Governor Orji had proven himself to be a man to be trusted as a ‘brother and neighbour keeper.’

His words: “We are praising Governor Orji as one of the most detribalised governors in Nigeria to today. What he did with the non- indigene workers in the state should be emulated by other governors so that together we can carry the destiny of Nigeria in our hands.

“We must endeavour to be our brothers’ keeper  by emulating Governor Orji in this regard. He has proven himself to be a detribalised Nigerian and, therefore, qualified to be included among the most detribalised governors of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

The governor had said the process had started with the reinstatement of more than 2000 of the disengaged non-indigene workers and told those not yet recalled in the teaching and other categories that they had not been forgotten.
