BENIN CITY—THE Students Union Government, SUG of the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State has faulted allegations by some students that the management of the university failed to provide infrastructure and comfortable learning environment for students despite the monthly subvention from the state government.
The students, under the aegis of Concerned Students and Youths on Political Advancement and National Development, had stormed the state Government House and the NUJ Press center on Monday, lamenting poor learning facilities in the University and appealed to the state government to investigate how the monthly subvention accruing to the university was being spent.
Reacting yesterday, SUG President, Ndidi Oriekose in a statement, said that the allegations were untrue, adding “The concerned students are known to be having academic problems as a result of their anti-social activities in the university.”
Insisting that the management of the university had enjoyed cordial relationship with the students and staff, the statement pointed out that some of the projects concluded in the university by the state government include professional offices in the Faculty of Natural Sciences, two 500 lecture theater capacity, the reconstruction of the Afmin building, the reconstruction of the pavilion and many others.
