2015: APC now doubts aspirants over defection of lawmakers —Edokpolo

By Simon Ebegbulem

BENIN CITY—A chieftain of All Progressives Congress, APC, in Edo State and House of Assembly aspirant, Mr Aiyemenkhue Edokpolo, yesterday, lamented that the defection of four APC legislators in the State House of Assembly was making it difficult for leaders of the party to trust aspirants, who are seeking the mandate of the party in the forthcoming 2015 general elections.

He, however, said that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, will lose in the general elections, because “Apart from weeping the sentiments for federal might against the collective interests of Edo people, PDP politicians know that an attempt to compare their 10 years reign in Edo with the near six years reign of our party is like comparing what should not be compared.”

Edokpolo, during the flag off of his House of Assembly seat for Ikpoba Okhia constituency of Edo State, said: “The House of Assembly member, who defected from Ikpoba-Okha betrayed the thrust of his constituents and by so doing has made it difficult for credible aspirants  like myself to enjoy a wholesale support from leaders of the party.

“But insofar that our constituents have seen the consistency of our party to its avowed principles of constructive engagement of resources and stakeholders, I believe that when eventually nominated as the APC flag-bearer for the February 2015 election, our constituents will support me irrespective of the seeming party affiliations.”
