OWERRI—Imo State High Court Judge,  Justice K. A. Orjiako, yesterday, lashed out at people who exploit the powers of the court to heat up the polity.
Justice Orjiako made his feelings known while reacting to the ex-parte motion, HOR/88/2014, brought before the court by two agents of Imo State government, Eze Samuel Ohiri and Edinburgh Olumba, seeking the leave of court to stop Eze Cletus Ilomuanya from celebrating the New Yam Festival of Obinugwu autonomous community.

When the matter first came up in the court, Orjiako said: “I have read through the motion ex-parte and I am of the humble view that the application is not one to be heard ex-parte.”
He, therefore, ordered that the respondent  be served appropriately on notice to enable him react accordingly, and subsequently adjourned the matter to August 14, 2014,  based on agreement of both parties.

At the resumed hearing yesterday, counsel to the claimants/applicants, Mr. Mike N. Okafor, told the court that he was not in court with the case file and could not confirm if the respondent had been properly served or not.
