MOSOGAR — People Democratic Party, PDP, governorship aspirant in Delta State, Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi, has urged the Urhobo Progress Union, UPU, the umbrella body of the Urhobo ethnic nationality in the state, not make the blunder of choosing a wrong governorship flag bearer for the 2015 poll.
Meanwhile, the Urhobo Elders and Leaders Council, UELC, in Delta State, has chosen Gbagi, as the most competent governorship candidate to rule the state in 2015.
President-General of the group, Chief Cyprian Onephrejiere, said “In all ramification, Olorogun Gbagi towers above all the persons parading the scene today as governorship aspirants in the three senatorial districts based on pedigree and proven performance.”
Speaking during a consultative visit of Gbagi to the council in Effurun, Onephrejiere said “We will not the mistake of the past by supporting a wrong candidate. I also challenge anybody or group(s) that believe there is a better candidate than Gbagi to present him/her to Deltans.”
Gbagi, who spoke separately at Mosogar, Ethiope-West Local Government Area, when he paid a condolence visit to the acting President-General of UPU, Chief Joseph Omene, on the passage of the President General, Major General Patrick Aziza, (rtd), described Aziza as a selfless and devoted Urhobo leader, who wanted the ethnic group to produce the next governor of the state.
“Urhobo nation is at a crossroad, we will not be talking about governor in 2015 if we make a mistake in choosing a flag bearer. So I am calling on UPU not to make a mistake because if you the make mistake, we are gone.
“It is the duty of UPU to ask questions and find out who the aspirants really are despite the facade they are presenting; you have the right to ask the security agencies questions on the aspirants.
