3 Imo ministry workers docked for theft

OWERRI — THE Imo State Police Command has sued three members of staff of the state Ministry of Lands, Survey and Urban Development before an Owerri chief magistrate’s court for alleged criminal acts.

The accused persons, who are facing a seven‑count charge in suit number OW/43C/2014 included Ogwunga Basil Emeka, Emezuruike Jude and Echefu Adaku.

The trio were accused of conspiring among themselves on December 10 and 13, 2012, “to commit felony, to wit, concealing deeds and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Code Cap 30 Volume 11 Laws of Eastern Nigeria, 1963, as applicable in Imo State.”

They were accused of stealing assorted building materials value at N257,000, from Plot C6/98 situated at Onitsha Road Industrial Layout, Owerri, property of Carlin Concept International Nigeria Limited, “and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 30 Volume 11 Laws of Eastern Nigeria, 1963, as applicable in Imo State.”

Ogwunga Basil Emeka and his colleagues were similarly accused of damaging property belonging to Carlin Concept International Nigeria Limited, valued at N2.2 million and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 451 of the Criminal Code Cap 30 Volume 11 Laws of Eastern Nigeria, 1963, as applicable to Imo State.
