Olofinjana

Former Super Eagles player, Seyi Olofinjana has picked holes in the tactics employed by coach Stephen Keshi that saw the team play without bite in their barren draw with the Iranian national team on Monday.
Olofinjana who is running commentaries for OSMI said that playing two holding midfielders in Mikel Obi and Ogenyi Onazi contributed to the lack of attack for the team.
”That was a big mistake as the two players slowed down the supply of balls to the attack. Keshi should have replaced one of them with an attacker. It is alien to modern football to play two holding midfielders when you want victory”, Olofinjana complained at the Sports Media Centre in São Paulo yesterday.
A Columbian Journalist who said he had followed the Eagles for a long time said he was shocked with the performance of the Eagles. No, no”, he said. “Nigeria did not play like Nigeria”, he said in his smattering English.
Nigerians who before this match had been loud boasting of the strength of the Eagles and how they would stroll through the second round and zoom into the semi finals have started having doubts on the capabilities of the team surviving Bosnia and Argentina. Some of them have started changing their flight schedules.
”Nna, I can’t wait till the last match against Argentina. To go to the venue in Port Alegre will take two days by road while the match against Bosnia in Cuiaba is 20 hours by road. The match against Iran in Curitiba was 16 hours to and from São Paulo where most Nigerians are based.
”We can’t waste money and suffer like that for a team that has no attacking flair”, Chidi said.
