Super Eagles and Lille goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama, believes that an African team can reach out for the World Cup this year.

Among the teams that are capable of doing great in the Brazilian tournament Enyeama tipped Ghana, Ivory Coast and of course Nigeria. Cameroon and Algeria are the other two, unmentioned representatives of the African continent.

“It (an African side winning the World Cup) can happen. It can happen. Nigeria has a good team; Ghana has a great team. Cote d’Ivoire has a great, amazing team.” said Enyeama

“I believe an African team can win the World Cup. It can happen. I don’t believe in negativity. I am a very positive person so, I believe it can happen in Brazil.”

But historically this happening would break the statistics as only three times African teams reached the quarter-finals: 1990 Cameroon (lost to England 2-3 after extra time), 2002 Senegal (lost to Turkey 0-1) and Ghana in 2010 (lost to Uruguay after penalties).
