
The Super Eagles arrived Jacksonville, Florida from its Philadelphia base on Wednesday evening as preparations continue for the World Cup, with a scheduled friendly against the United States on Saturday in Jacksonville.
The team is quartered at the exquisite Hyatt Hotel overlooking the city’s river and about 20 minutes drive from where the team had its first training session on Thursday morning; the Jacksonville United FC training pitch.
Team doctor, Ibrahim Gyaran said it was important to do the scan to know the injury level but he does not foresee a serious injury.
Team Skipper, Joseph Yobo, who has rediscovered his old self in the team has also been speaking ahead of the World Cup tourney in Brazil. Yobo said he was delighted to have been picked by the technical crew. “We have to give our all in the tourney because in future people will ask when you were playing what did you achieve? We have won the Nations Cup, now is the time to aim for the big one”.
Onazi who spoke in a similar vein said the Super Eagles will be the surprise package Brazil.. “Yes, they say we have not been scoring many goals but these are preparatory games, when we come to the tournament proper they will see the real Nigerian national team”.
The team will train only once in the afternoon today at the stadium where the game against the United States will be played on Saturday evening.
