Eagles in last flight against Yankees

Eagles in last flight against Yankees

The Super Eagles will tomorrow battle the United States of America in their final warm-up match before the World Cup kicks off on June 12 in Sao Paolo.

The match, to be played at the EverBank Field; Jacksonville, Florida, sees two teams with almost identical styles attempt to finish t heir preparations with a flourish, heading into what promises to be an intriguing World Cup campaign in Brazil.

Eagles, yet to record a victory in four previous friendlies against Mexico, Italy, Scotland and Greece, will be anxious to nick a win against a galvanised USA team, who triumphed 2-1 over Turkey in a sold-out Red Bull Arena midweek.

Fabian Johnson and Clint Dempsey got the goals that lifted Juergen Klinsmann’s side to a morale-boosting win over the Europeans and the German tactician will hope that his troops pick up from their last game to edge out the African champions on home turf.

“I hope that we can continue this winning streak against Nigeria. The players are in good condition and the desire is there for them to finish the preparations with another win”, Klinsmann told ussoccer.com.

USA have been placed in the proverbial group of death, comprising Germany, Portugal and Ghana, with hopes of reaching the second round looking very bleak.

Despite the mountain they have to climb in Brazil, Klinsmann, a World Cup winner with Germany in 1990, insists that his side have to take it one game at a time.
