OWERRI—The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, has called on Imo State government to be proactive in safeguarding places of worship in the state.
Deputy National Secretary of PFN, Dr. Cosmos Ilechukwu, made the call, yesterday, against the backdrop of last Sunday’s bomb planted at Winners Chapel in Owerri which was defused by the police.
Ilechukwu said: “The attempted bombing of the Winners Chapel is to say the least, a very heinous act, which is condemnable in all ramifications.
“We must all at the same time intensify our prayers for divine protection, for as the scripture says, unless the Lord guards the city, they labour in vain that guard it.”
Also reacting, Anglican Bishop of Okigwe South Diocese, Rt. Rev. David O. C. Onuoha, described the incident as “a very shoc-king and disturbing news”.
