BENIN—EDO State chapter of People’s Democratic Party, PDP, has said that it will resist attempts by Governor Adams Oshiomhole to choose his successor in the state’s 2016 election.
Edo State chairman of the party, Chief Dan Orbih, in Benin, at a rally to welcome defectors from the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of the state to PDP, said that the people have since realised that the government cannot be trusted to deliver on its electoral promises, hence they will resist plans by the governor to decide who governs the state after him.
“Our people have realised that he is the exact opposite of what he claims to be. Edo people will not make the same mistake again. As he is going, his party, the APC, and the hardship they have foisted on Edo people, will go with him,” Orbih said.
Also speaking at the rally, the PDP chairman in Ikpoba Okha council, Mr. Scot Osagiede, expressed joy that leaders of PDP in all the wards of the council have seen reasoned to return home, adding that with their return to PDP, the end has come for APC in the council.
Among those who defected from APC along with their followers from the 10 wards of the council are Chief Dan Osabuohien, Mr. Nelson Edosomwan, Elder Sunday Osawe, Mrs. Rose Okungbowa and Elder Mike Ojo.
