TASUED students laud Amosun over school retention

ABEOKUTA—Students of the Tai Solarin University of Education Ijagun, Ijebu-Ode, yesterday, lauded the decision of Governor Ibikunle Amosun for reversing  the planned merger of the institution with Olabisi Onabanjo University, OOU, Ago Iwoye.

The governor, at the 80th birthday celebration of the Awujale of Ijebu Ode, Oba Sikiru Adetona, had said that the institution would continue to exist and no longer be an institute under OOU.

The students yesterday paid a solidarity visit to the Governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, displaying various placards with inscriptions such as “SIA is indeed a Governor”, “SIA we appreciate your leadership spirit”, “TASUED says thank you” among others.

President, National Association of Nigerian Students, TASUED chapter, Okikiola Ogunshola, while speaking, said the assurance from the governor portrayed him as “a father and caring governor with interest of the young ones at heart.”
