Okotie-Eboh urges FG to dredge Warri Port

WARRI—THE CHAIRMAN, Itsekiri Development Congress, Mr. Emmanuel Okotie-Eboh, has called on the Federal Government to include the Warri Port in sea ports it intends to dredge across the country to facilitate calls by bigger vessels.

It will be recalled that the Federal Government recently approved the dredging of ports channels in Lagos, Bonny and Calabar to also facilitate calls by bigger vessels, but Warri Port was not included.

Okotie-Eboh in a statement appealed to the Federal Government to take adequate measures to save the Warri Port from collapse, adding that the Warri Port, which used to be a beehive of commercial activities in the past, had almost gone extinct due to prolonged neglect by successive governments.

He said that members of the IDC had in recent times appealed to successive governments of the need to dredge the waterways leading to the Warri Port to revive the dwindling economic activities at the port.
