Iran match ‘ll be toughest for Eagles – Peterside

BY JACOB AJOM
South Africa based former Nigeria international, Peterside Idah has warned that if there is any game the Super Eagles should be worried about in the World Cup, it is the opening game against Asian giants, Iran.

Speaking on Supersport channel, Idah who is a football pundit with the cable network said, “Iran will be the most difficult game for Nigeria. This is a match our players must be warry of bnecause it is key to the team’s campaign in Brazil”

He continued, “I know we are going to win, but it is going to be difficult.” He explained, “It is an important game for both countries. Iran believes if there is any country they can beat in the group that country is Nigeria. Ironically, Nigeria sees Iran the same way, particularly, when they have it at the back of their minds that Argentina game will be tough.”

The former Nigeria goalkeeper said he does not believe the Eagles would underestimate their Iranian opponents. “If they do that, it will be to their peril. I see the encounter as tough.”

Nigeria will kick-start her World Cup campaign against Iran on June 16 in Fortaleza . The other teams in the group are favourites, Argentina and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
