WECO decries poaching of technology staff in Nigeria

The knowledge gap currently being experienced in the Nigerian System Integration sector has been attributied to poaching of IT staff.

Managing Director of Weco System International Mr. Nnamdi Oyebuchi, stated that due to high level of knowledge required in this field of business, operators in Nigeria run at the risk of training somebody abroad only for another competitor to take him to his side.

Addressing participants at a workshop, organised by the company in partnership with CISCO System Group, in Lagos, he said that having discovered this problem, Weco has begin to work with some foreign technology partner as part of effort to bring them and create SI training centers in Nigeria; to make available, trained SI technologist who can take over when a trained staff goes away.

“We understand the imperative of IT solutions in today’s business especially in the financial sector owning to CBN’s regulations, banks are not eager to open new branches, and to leverage on this, we provide solutions that enables customers transact any where they go.

“As a system integrated company, our job is to understand these transactions that are happening within our customer business and help them provide the right solution that will enable them to attain there business objectives and for them also to be able to serve their customers profitably.
