ABEOKUTA—Barely 48 hours after the wards congresses of the All Progressives Congress  were held in Ogun State,  National Assembly caucus of  the party   protested alleged  electoral malpractices.

Also, some aggrieved members of the party from Sagamu stormed  the Oke-Mosan office of the Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs ,  yesterday,  to protest the alleged injustice in the choice of ward leaders.

Some of the protesters  threatened to ‘deal’ with   Chairman of one  local  government,  for  allegedly  manipulating the list of the wards leaders in the council.

The  aggrieved members of the party were heard warning the Chairman of the council not to resume in the office or risk  being ‘lynched’.

It took the intervention of the Commissioner for  Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs,  Muyiwa Oladipo who called the protesters and assured them of fair treatment.

While addressing  newsmen after the protest, Oladipo  explained that the results  of the wards in the council were being harmonised, adding that there was no serious problems in the council.

Meanwhile, no fewer than five  members of the party were hospitalised during the wards congresses following the violence that broke out in some parts of the state.

Some of the  injured members of the party were said to have been attacked by  a faction loyal to governor Ibikunle Amosun for allegedly resisting their candidates.

Vanguard gathered that,  at Kugba, ward  2  one Muyideen Ogunwemimo was stab in the head while Adeboye Mustapha, Tijani Ganiyu and Lateefat  Adeyinka were reportedly attacked at Adatan,  ward  3, all in Abeokuta South local government.

Also, reportedly attacked was  Pelumi Ramon at Saga in Akute-Ajuwon ward, during a clash between the two factions of the party before the election proper.

All of them were reportedly rushed to hospitals where they were treated .
