Lagos – Prof. Femi Omotosho, a lecturer of Political Science, University of Ado-Ekiti (UNAD) has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission to (INEC) conduct successful gubernatorial elections in Ekiti and Osun States.
Omotosho made the call on Saturday in Lagos in a telephone interview.
The governorship election in Ekiti is slated for June 21, while that of Osun would hold on Aug. 9.
The lecturer said that successful polls in the two states would re-establish the confidence Nigerians on the commission.
“INEC should get it right at the governorship elections in Ekiti and Osun States.
“Conducting successful elections in these states will determine how 2015 will look like to some extent,’’ he said.
The University don urged politicians to shun utterances that could be detrimental to the development of the country.
He appealed to them to put the interest of the nation first in their actions and utterances.
“Nigerian politicians should refrain from making injurious utterances that can over heat a polity like ours that is already having issues.
“They should ensure that the country’s interest takes pre-eminence in their words and actions,’’ he said. (NAN)
