THE rising trend of inconclusive elections across the country is becoming worrisome to politicians, political parties and Nigerians inclusive.
From a House of Assembly election in Imo State, the Anambra governorship election and the recent House of Representatives bye-election in Ondo State, the trend is becoming rampant.
Though the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has assured that the elections in Ekiti and Osun states will not be marred by irregularities, one person, who is having sleepless nights, is perhaps, the Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi.
Fayemi at a recent rally in Ilasa-Ekiti expressed concern over the trend and declared that the state would not accept it, saying: “Let us vote massively and protect our votes. Men, women, youth, everybody must be vigilant. Ekiti will never go back; we are moving forward. Your voter’s card is very important. Keep it very well. It is your weapon to say no to retrogression.”
