Conquering your enemy

BY HARUN RAZAQ

Allah and Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) assures Muslims in Qur’an and Hadith that they will conquer there enemy provided they are Mumeen (believer).

These divine promise come to pass on the first Muslims as history, up to the13th century Hijri revealed that Muslims were the sole possessors of honour, dignity, power and grandeur.

However, reversed is the case with many of the present Muslims as they suffered a lot from their enemies.

The enemy easily and successfully planned, punished and killed them. This is because many of them lack certain qualities that are expected of a Muslim and also involve in un-Islamic acts.

It must be emphasised that the earlier Muslims conquered their enemy with the help of Allah because they possessed sound aqeedah (faith, believe, doctrine), correct Ibadah (act of worship) and exceptional good behaviuor with others creations.

And not through un-Islamic acts such as seeking assistances from angel, prophet, jinn, saint, magician etc; or Ibadah that lack support from Qur’an and Sunnah; or harming, fighting and killing people because they are not Muslims.

It must be reiterated that Qur’an and Hadith attests to the fact that the help of Allah is for believers and not for unserious Muslims who are not conscious of their duties to Allah.

This fact is supported by many verses of Qur’an among of which are presented below: Allah has promised those among you who believe, and do righteous deeds, that He will certainly grant them succession to (the present rulers) in the earth, as He granted to those before them, and that He will grant them the authority to practice their religion, that which He has chosen for them (i.e. Islam).

And He will surely give them in exchange a safe security after their fear (provided) they (believers) worship Me and do not associate anything (in worship) with Me (Q24:55).

So, do not become weak (against your enemy), nor be sad, and you will be superior (in victory) if you are indeed (true) believers (Q3:139)…But honour, power and glory belong to Allah, His Messenger (Muhammad s.a.w), and to the believers…(Q 63:8).

The aforementioned verses of the Qur’an and many others clearly maintain that the way to gain the assistance of Allah lies only in having iman (being a Mumeen).

In addition, scholars have maintained that the major cause of the challenges facing Muslims is that they have discarded the way of the first righteous Muslims.

They further mentioned three instruments for Muslims to conquer their enemies as identified by Shaikh Ibn Qayim Ajaosiyyah in his famous book Tib Nabawi.

These instruments include: faith in Allah and His Prophet, (s.a.w), fear of Allah and total reliance on Allah.
