LAGOS— An Ojo Chief Magistrate’s Court in Lagos, yesterday, sentenced an unemployed man, Yusuf Adamu, 31, to 12 months imprisonment for stabbing his girlfriend with a bottle.

Adamu, whose address is unknown, had pleaded guilty to the charge of assault preferred against him.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr. Taslimi Shomade, who sentenced Adamu, gave him no option.

The prosecutor, ASP Godwin Eze, had told the court that Adamu commi-tted the offence on March 9, at 9pm, at Alaba Rago, Okokomaiko, Lagos.

He said Adamu assaulted his friend, Miss Iyabo Lawal, by stabbing her with a bottle.

Eze said the incident followed a quarrel between Adamu and the complainant.

He said the offence contravened Section 171 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
