Super Eagles’ players, Chigozie Agbim, Abdullahi Shehu and Ejike Uzoenyi showcased the new team’s new jerseys for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, on Thursday in Abuja
One time Nigeria Football Association chairman, Kojo Williams has fumed over comments made by Godfrey Gaiya on the new Eagles Jersey.
Gaiya is the Chairman of House of Representatives Committee on Sports.
Last week, he condemned the green on the Eagles World Cup jersey, insisting that it was not exactly the green on Nigeria’s flag. He said that the his committee could probe the production of such jersey for Nigeria. This followed the display of the World Cup jerseys by the Nigeria Football Federation.
“I totally disagree with Gaiya who condemned the jersey because the green was not exactly as deep as the one in our flag,” Kojo said yesterday.
“We should move with time. These days you light up things to make them beautiful. If the colour is strikingly beautiful and has semblance of our colour then it is in order. If Gaiya has issues with the quality of the jersey I’ll stand with him but not on the reasons that he announced,” Kojo said.
