A former Chairman of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFA) Anthony Kojo-Williams has said that Coach Stephen Keshi needs help for him to succeed with the Super Eagles at the World Cup holding this summer in Brazil.

Kojo said given the enormity of the tasks ahead at the World Cup, that the Eagles will need the input of a very sound coach to assist Keshi in his quest to ensure that the team go beyond the second round phase of the tournament.

The respected football administrator and commentator urged the former Togo and Mali coach to  look at the bigger picture to appreciate the need for a employment of a trainer, which he insists must takle orders from Keshi..

“Going by the recent developments in our football, the fact remains that we need a foreign assistant to do well at the World Cup. The guys who are assisting Keshi now, with all due respect, cannot stand the big test that the World Cup will present.

“We saw glimpses of these at the last Confederations Cup in Brazil and the African Nations Championship in South Africa. Keshi remains the manager of the team but he needs a capable assistant, who will help him to achieve results in Brazil. He cannot do it alone. The World Cup is the biggest stage and you need e biggest thinkers on the bench to come up with solutions in trying times.

“That is why I am urging Keshi to allow someone to join the coaching crew to help him achieve better results at the World Cup. We can do well if we have the right coaches, who only use the best players for matches”, added Kojo.

He also told the NFF to be firm in execution of their plans.

“If they know what they want and feel that what they want is what will give the team success at the World Cup, they should go for it. They are the ones paying the coaches and should not show weakness when it comes to executing their plans”, said Kojo.
