This topic has found its way back to pubic discourse following the poor showing of the representatives of the English Premier league in the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League.

Arsenal and Manchester City were beaten at home last week by German and Spanish opposition- Bayern Munich and Barcelona respectively. The reigning champions of the EPL, Manchester United also failed to secure victory against lowly ranked Greek champions Olympiakos yesterday.

More worrisome is the fact that none of the three teams have registered a goal so far at this stage of the competition- making a total of 270 minutes of football without a goal but they have conceded a total of 6 goals. This is not good for the league that pride itself as the best, parading top strikers and midfielders, even, goalkeepers.

Chelsea, the other representative of the EPL will play against Turkish giants, Galatasary tonight, can they preserve some pride for the EPL or will it be another sad tale?

Will the followers of the EPL accept that the Bundesliga and the La Liga are miles ahead of the most watched league in the world?

Or do we conclude that the EPL is all about media hype?
