Gusau
BY CLIFFORD NDUJIHE
FORMER Minister of State for Education and a chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi, has commended President Goodluck Jonathan for nominating General Aliyu Mohammed Gusau as defence minister, saying that the move would boost security in the country.
In a chat with Vanguard, Gbagi, said: “I have read newspaper comments and articles from faceless persons with regard to a fine, honest and detribalised security expert, General Gusau. As a criminologist before being a lawyer and in all my stint with security operations in this country, if there is a man I have admired from a distance, who has carried out his work with regard to security of Nigeria with such responsibility, it will be General Gusau.
“While I was going in as a minister, General Gusau was leaving. Many questions crossed my mind. I doff my hat for what I consider the most decisive decision of my boss, President Jonathan, to have made the choice. We must all remember that Nigeria is greater than us all and do away with parochial views that are against the greater Nigerian interest.
“Nigerians should look forward with great expectation to the magic touch solutions to the security problems of Nigeria having now saddled one of the finest men the world over with the responsibility of securing his own country. My thanks go to our President for that brave and courageous step. He has demonstrated by this singular action that the issue of securing Nigeria is uppermost in his agenda.”
