Zoning for 2015 a lazy man’s argument—Delta SSG

says he has no interest in governorship

BY AUSTIN OGWUDA & FESTUS AHON

UGHELLI—SECRETARY to the Delta State Government, SSG, Mr Ovuozuorie Macaulay, has described the clamour for zoning of the state governorship position to Delta North senatorial district as a lazy man’s argument, saying that he has no interest in the governorship in 2015.

Macaulay in a chat with newsmen in his office, said; “I have explained that what the ordinary person wants is good governance. It doesn’t really matter where the person comes from, once you can give good governance, you will settle the problem.

“It is because of issues of injustice and unfair distribution of projects and appointments that people want to fight to be there. Once we begin to put it into our consciousness and begin to treat every other human being as our brother, then the issue of nationality will not arise. My advice to all of you is that if we must vote for anybody, it should based on the fact that person the will make Delta State to stay one. If the person has the right qualities, it does not necessarily mean whether the person is from the North, Central or South.

“We also know that some people are also saying we are five brothers in this state, each of us is entitled to it as well. Anybody who wants to govern this state should tell Deltans, I have what it takes to manage this state, I understand the politics of this state, the needs of my people, not your people as Isoko or Anioma, but your people as Deltans. If you are able to drive this through, then we can begin to look at your direction. I think is a lazy man argument to say ‘it is my turn to become governor.”

On whether he would run for the governorship in 2015, Macaulay said; “I want to ask who has said that I have consulted him? If you want to be governor, you go around consulting, but if you the major media come now and say we have made you our governor, there is nothing wrong with that, but beyond that as we talk today, I have always told people, power belongs to God and God will give it to those he wants.”
