DELTA State deputy governor, Prof. Amos Utuama, has faulted the call by former Minister of State for Education, Olorogun Keneth Gbagi, for him (Utuama) to quit politics in 2015, saying that Gbagi was the least qualified person to advise him on such a matter.

He noted that he had not declared or told anybody that he was running for the governorship in 2015, saying that the former minister was free to pursue his ambition.

Utuama, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Austine Avowde, said: “Our attention has been drawn to a publication  where a former Minister of State for Education, Gbagi, reportedly gave an unsolicited and ill-conceived advice to quit politics after 2015. Ordinarily, one would not have replied, but because of the need to disabuse the minds of the unsuspecting teeming Deltans and the general public, it is pertinent to state that Gbagi’s  advice is borne out of a morbid fear of even the shadow of the deputy governor, whose political profile, in the last 14 years, has continued to soar like the eagle.

‘’Besides, as a true party man, he has observed strictly, the instruction from Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, that nobody should be engaged in political campaign for any office for now. Prof Utuama has not declared or told anybody that he wants to run for governorship in 2015. Gbagi is free to pursue his ambition, but he is advised to refrain from all attempts to run down an obviously innocent and harmless man.’’
