The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has cautioned All Progressives Congress, APC, which it described as a coalition of desperate politicians, to tone down its penchant for propaganda in the New Year.

PDP, yesterday, in one statement described APC as a party whose stock in trade was insults, and in another castigated the leading opposition party as one bereft of sound ideology and democratic principles.

The two statements were issued by PDP National Chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur and the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, respectively.

In the statement by Tukur through his Special Assistant on Media, Prince Oliver Okpala, the national chairman was quoted as saying that there “is a desperate political coalition in the country now known as APC whose stoke in trade is insults, attacks and lack of decorum.

“The party and her membership have nothing to offer the people of Nigeria, apart for only a desperate plan to take over power at all cost.”

He faulted APC for failing so far to present any reasonable programme to seriously challenge PDP.

In the second statement by Metuh, PDP said that recent challenges that confronted the party only went to show the resilience of the party.

It said: “PDP is a party founded on democratic ideology by worthy and respectable leaders. It is the only party committed to the national interest, in which no person, group, tribe or religion can claim to play dominant role.

“We have remained strictly committed to our ideology based on the principles of patriotism and service to the people and this explains why self-centred and undemocratic elements find it very difficult to adapt to the dictates of the party.”
