Jos—Amid allegations of imposition of candidates in some local government areas, Governor Jonah Jang of Plateau State has promised that the local government election scheduled for the end of this month would be credible.
Speaking at the New Year Service of COCIN Church Du, he said everything would be done to make the elections free and fair stressing, “at the end of this month, we are going to have our local government elections and we want to have peaceful elections”.
He reiterated his promise to run a righteous administration when he came into office in 2007, pledging to abide by the promise to the end of his administration.
Governor Jang said: “I know we have shortcomings here and there, but I think we have done our best to run this administration on the path of righteousness.”
The governor’s promise of a credible local government election came amidst the disquiet in many of the 15 local government areas where the election would hold over the manner chairmanship candidates of the ruling People’s Democratic Party, PDP, emerged.
