Fashola, Oshiomhole mediate Ogun APC crisis

BY DAUD OLATUNJI

ABEOKUTA — Governors Babatunde  Fashola and Adams Oshiomhole of Lagos  and Edo states respectively have been enlisted to wade into the crisis rocking the Ogun state branch of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Vanguard reliably gathered that, Fashola and Oshiomhole accepted to intervene in the political imbroglio to save the party from imminent loss in 2015 elections.

The two governors, according to a reliable source who craved anonymity,  would soon convey a meeting to reconcile the two  warring  factions of the party.

Meantime, an attempt by Ogun State governor,  Senator Ibikunle Amosun to woo  members of the  All Progressives  Congress,  National Assembly caucus hit a brick-wall as the later shunned a meeting he initiated.

Both the governor and members of the National Assembly on the platform of the APC are at loggerheads which has led to the factionalisation of the  party.

The party in Ogun State is being led by former governor of the state, Chief Segun Osoba and the incumbent, Senator Ibikunle Amosun.

Vanguard exclusively gathered that,  Amosun camp decided to mend the fence with Osoba loyalists which has the majority in the  newly constituted harmonisation committee following the reported matching order by the leadership of the party  to reconcile within few weeks.

It was also gathered that,  the Secretary to the State  Government, SSG, Taiwo Adeoluwa sent a notice of the meeting to the NASS members scheduling the meeting for January 27 at MTR hall, near Presidential lodge, Abeokuta  at 1:pm., but non of the lawmakers attended.

Findings however, showed that,  the NASS members decided to boycott the meeting citing  insecurity as one of their reasons.

The aggrieved NASS members vowed not to attend any meeting in Abeokuta until their personal safety could be guaranteed.
