US proposes $16bn settlement with BP over Gulf spill
The United States, US, is proposing a $16 billion settlement to British Petroleum, BP, over the 2010 oil in the Gulf of Mexico.
According to reports, the settlement would cover fines BP owes under the Clean Water Act, a federal water pollution law, as well as payments under the Natural Resources Damage Assessment, an environmental evaluation.
China increases prices of petroleum products
China has announced an increase, effectively Monday, in prices of petroleum products in the country. The increase, the first since September, is amid gains in oil benchmarks since the start of the year.
