Lagos street sweepers groan under poor pay
Fifty-eight-year-old Afusat, a widow is one of the street sweepers in Lagos State. Afusat was a petty trader who was struggling to make ends meet with her five children. Her youngest child is in JSS 2. Fifteen years ago after she lost her husband, she has been facing numerous challenges raising her children. Afusat told Saturday Vanguard that she was using the profit realised from her petty business to train her children.
Advisory committee on film industry meets …charts a new course for Nollywood
The Advisory Committee on the Nigerian Film Industry has met with a promise to contribute to the sustainability of the vibrancy of the Nigerian Film industry. Rising from a two- day meeting in Jos, the Plateau State capital, members of the committee were optimistic that there are better days ahead for the film industry in Nigeria if indeed all stakeholders brace up against inherent challenges and contribute meaningfully to the growth of the sector.
Court orders PDP, INEC to delete Oyinlola’s name as party’s National Secretary
Justice Abdul Kafarati of the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court, yesterday, ordered the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to delete the name of former Governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola from their records as the National Secretary of the PDP.
