Residents raise alarm over invasion of hoodlums in public school

Residents of Igbo-Olomu in Agric area of Ikorodu have raised alarm over activities of hoodlums in a public school situated in the area.

According to them, their cry became necessary owing to the fact that academic activities in Anglican Primary School have been stalled as the hoodlums have gained access to the school to smoke Indian hemp or carry out other nefarious activities.

A cross section of residents who spoke with Vanguard Metro lamented that the school had severally been vandalised, thereby exposing their wards to danger.’’They have vandalised the windows and carted away some valuable items not minding the effort put in place by parents and teachers,’’ chorused Chief Alowonle Afees and Mr. Eniolawun Agbede.

According to the residents, the hoodlums, who usually resume around 2pm, chased away both teachers and students before taking over some of the class rooms till the following day.

A resident who spoke on condition of anonymity said the hoodlums usually leave the school unkempt after defecating in the classrooms. ‘’As a result, academic activities start rather late as the students spend hours to clean the classrooms under the supervision of their teachers.’’

Contacted, a senior police officer at Owutu Division who spoke on condition of anonymity said the station was not aware of such atrocities as nobody has shown up to incident the report.
