Police disagree with Ogere monarch over insecurity claim

By DAUD OLATUNJI

ABEOKUTA — The Ogun State Police Command, yesterday, said Ogere in Ikenne Local Government Area  of the state enjoys  heavy presence of the police and other security agencies in combating crimes contrary to the claim of the Oba.

The Ologere of Ogere, Oba Oladele Ogunbade had  called for more  Policemen to combat various crimes such as cultism, robberies and pipeline vandalism in the community.

But  the Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi in a statement, said  the monarch raised a false alarm.

He  said: “The  Command wishes to state categorically that Ogere remains one of the communities in Ogun State that enjoy heavy presence of the Police and other security agencies in combating crimes, and this has paid off.

“The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State, CP Ikemefuna Okoye  has not relented in his efforts to sanitise Ogun State and get it rid of criminals. While the CP appeals to the public to cooperate with the Police to achieve a better and more secure state, he promises the people of Ogun State a peaceful yuletide season.”
