A Gusau-based consultant pathologist, Dr. Murtala Abubakar, today urged the Federal Government to establish a national pathology centre, to facilitate

quick dispensation of crimes that require medical interpretation.

Abubakar, made this known at the annual health Week of the Zamfara chapter of the Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) in Gusau, Zamfara State.

According to him, the interpretation of causes of deaths is always misleading.“Quick interpretation of deaths are always misleading as to the causes of death, and if forensics are carried out, they may even lead to breakthroughs,’’ he said.

He added that the provision of the enabling laws establishing a national centre for forensic examinations would address the dearth of facilities and manpower in this direction.

“Such cases could be in the interpretation of sampled blood groups, DNAs, body tissues and fibres, especially during these rising cases of rape and denials.’’ He concluded
